‘The principles of sound Corporate Governance and the removal of barriers to shareholder control invite widespread attention and are of critical concern to all investors. Shareholder activism is one of the core issues.

‘Many official and quasi-official reports have been published. Governments, regulators and trade bodies in the USA, Europe and the Far East are continuing to take a lively interest. Guidelines are being established around the world concerning the processes of Corporate Governance. Some aspects of these guidelines have received widespread agreement, but others have not.
